Beach Babies

Even though they were both born in Minnesota and raised in Massachusetts, my kids have somehow turned into beach babies. While we were on Oahu this Summer, they spent every moment possible at the beach and never seemed to tire of it. However, since moving back West, we haven't taken the time to see the Pacific until this past weekend.

Sunday was a beautiful, clear, 80 degrees, so after church we packed up a cooler and headed for the coast. We knew that the water would be freezing (around 60 degrees) but we told the kids that they could play in the sand and stick their feet in the water. To our amazement, they stuck their entire bodies in the water and insisted upon swimming around the shoreline. It was quite the site to see as the only other people in the water were surfers wearing full wet suits. Once Alexander's teeth began to chatter we would make them take a break and play in the sand to warm up before heading back in to the icy sea.

When we had run out of food we took a walk along the pier and then headed back to the car while watching the sunset. It was a beautiful day that has left me with raccoon eyes and the dream of owning a cute little house near the beach.
Huntington Beach.
Too sunny.
Playing in the sand.
Playing in the water.
Upset that it's time to go home.
