Busy Weekend - Part 2

We had to leave Fresno early on Sunday morning to make it back down to Torrence, CA by 11am. You see, a week prior to our trip, another mom had told me about a skateboard clinic for kids with Autism that was going to be in Orange County on the Saturday that we were planning on being in Fresno. We knew that we would not be able to change our plans, but looked up the information online and found out about A.skate. A non-profit organization that travels around the country offering free skateboard clinics for children on the spectrum. We asked to be added to their e-mail list and left it at that.

A couple of days later, we received an e-mail saying that they had added a clinic on Sunday in Los Angeles and that anyone interested needed to register immediately, since space was limited. We registered right away and a day before leaving for Fresno, found out that Alexander had been assigned a time slot.

Fortunately, there isn't much traffic at 6 am on a Sunday morning, so we made it back to Southern California in a little over 3 hours. Alexander had such a great time and it was well worth the early rise for him to have this opportunity.

Skateborder magazine and Vans TV were there video taping the event as well. Here is the first video. Alexander is only in it for a second, but Paul Shire was his coach and in his interview he talks about his experience with Alexander ("the first kid".)

Alexander is featured a little bit more in this second video. Be warned, it makes us cry so you might need a tissue.
